A calm160 pop-up event was held at Amu Plaza Kumamoto for 10 days from November 21st (Tuesday) to November 30th (Thursday), 2023! This is calm160's first store in Kumamoto. Although I have been here several times for sightseeing, this was my first time staying for 10 days, so I was able to experience the atmosphere of the local people, which I would not have been able to get if I had just come as a tourist, and it was a wonderful experience. I did.
This time, we would like to introduce the calm160 pop-up event at Amu Plaza Kumamoto and the behind-the-scenes story!
The venue is ``Amu Plaza Kumamoto'', which is right next to JR Kumamoto Station. Amu Plaza is a commercial facility that opened in 2021, so the facility itself is still new! There is a waterfall flowing at the entrance. It feels like a theme park, where you can hear not only the sound of water, but also the chirping of birds and the sound of the wind.
calm160's pop-up store was held in the event space on the 5th floor. It was right in front of me when I took the elevator up, so I think a lot of people must have seen it. That's what I think. There are still not many people who know about calm160, so when I saw the store signboard, I heard people saying things like, ``Special for 160cm!? That's interesting~'' and ``●●-kun, aren't you about that tall?'' . I think I was able to provide you with an opportunity to get a little excited🤣
At this pop-up, all calm160 items were on display. Among them, slacks and collarless jackets were particularly popular.
The calm slacks are made to fit a man's body size around 160cm without having to be hemmed, and in addition, the hem can be removed . There are no other slacks like this, so it was an item that many people tried on and tried on.
When it comes to ready-made jackets, many people in Kumamoto have the problem that the sleeve length is too long. I can't tell you how many times I've been impressed by someone saying, ``Try wearing a jacket first!'' when I put on a collarless jacket, and saying, ``The sleeves aren't long!'' “Thank you for making this,” he said, and I almost burst into tears 😭
At calm160, we ``daringly'' create items that 160 men would not choose . For example, wide pants. There are many men over 160 who can't get their hands on wide-legged pants because they think a baggy silhouette will make their legs look short. Therefore, calm160 sells wide pants that are relatively straight size and are designed to make the body of 160 men look beautiful. 160 Men's said, ``I can't wear wide pants,'' but when I tried on wide pants at a pop-up venue, thinking, ``I thought I was fooled!'', he said, ``Well, my legs are too short.'' I can't see it...!" she said. The real pleasure of pop-ups is being able to hear these kinds of real opinions, and it's a great blessing to developers 😭
I thought I would take a moment to tell you a little bit about the story behind the Amu Plaza Kumamoto pop-up.
Not just this time, but every time we have a calm160 pop-up, we don't have the perfect mannequin. . Most of the men's mannequins at regular apparel brand stores are about 180cm tall and have a good shoulder and chest measurement, but the calm160 clothes won't fit all of them... , this time I used something called a ``torso'' that does not have a face or legs. Also, I asked a furniture store to find out the ``slenderest men's torso,'' but as expected, the arms are too short for calm160 items, and the buttons on the jacket won't close 😂
I seriously thought that our company should be the one to develop the 160 men's torso. .
We managed to finish the pop-up in Kumamoto, but we still have a lot of issues to solve. If I'm just a woman, I can't show you what 160 men want to know about how they'll feel wearing calm160 items, and since it's about clothes, I think it can be difficult to talk about it. . This time, I had a staff member who is 158 cm stand in the store, and he was very helpful. There were times when I felt like it was an advertisement just because he spent a day wearing calm160 clothes.
